Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers and what made you want to become a musician.

My name is Orend Jay Johnson Jr, I wanted to become a musician because my grandfather instilled a love for music in me. He introduced me to the classics of the black soul and taught me the poetic nuance of each song and the instrumentations.

Q: Who has been your most influential teacher or mentor?

I’m going to be real with you. I don’t know, everyone is my influence in life. I just use my common sense and stay away from bad influences.

Q: What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?

I love all genres.

Q: What would you say is your greatest weakness as an artist?

Finding the motivation to create. My life is more productive the older I have gotten and I have been doing music for so long, that I can’t think of any new words to say with pure and raw emotions and conscious pre-meditated thoughts and ideas

Q: In terms of the overall composition, what is your favorite song and why?

it’s not my song but I love the new records by Tyler the Creator, “ Like Him” and “I hope you find your way home.” Tyler just created his own genre and he doesn’t even it yet, that’s why. I can’t describe it well but the layers and suspense feeling are in their own world.

Q: What kind of music artist would you classify yourself as?

I’m not a music artist, I’m a philosopher disguised as a music artist. My ideas, inner-thoughts, innovations, and answers to the world’s problems is written in code and when someone sits down and picks apart what I say, it will spark their minds to cause an evolution for human life and God’s greatest creations. that’s who I am. I am the REVEYAHPHI.

Rev is the prefix for Reverend, Reverend means messenger, Yah is the Yiddish-German dialect of God or Yahweh or Tete, Phi is the prefix of Philosopher. If you read Psalms 82:6 it describes my people as gods of the Most high God, so I declare myself as the God of the night and the soul of the morning, when I speak, mountains will crumble, blood fills the water, lightning strikes from east to west and people will know God will come and redeem what is broken through my words.

I’m the REVEYAHPHI who uses the highest form of psychology to heal and teach people who we are. Music is the highest form of psychology and a philosopher changes perspectives. Psychology changes behavior. Hope you understand what I am speaking to you

Q: Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?

I’m not of the wicked. I’m just in it. I inspire to save and inspire, not poison people through indoctrination and agendas.

Q: Would you agree that it is very important to learn, study and understand old music and music history?

Yes. You must know your history of everything but you must use it to create something new inspired from the old.

Q: Where have you performed?

Mainly clubs and a high school in Houston. I’m too busy to perform these days.

Q: What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

No. Not planned at the moment.

Q: What’s next for you?

Q: How did you come up with the idea for your Music video?

What music videos? it’s a waste of money, if it’s not film or film sync, it’s not for me.

Q: Do you have any advice for young music makers like yourself?

Stay true to yourself and remember only people who truly know you are you and the people who live with you, we will leave this world and people will forget about us. They only love your art, but will bash the person when they aren’t wrong or made a mistake or just don’t agree with the world Just stay humble, don’t chase money, chase the dream and everything else follows.
