Interview with Music Artist YOUNG CISTO
How did you first get into music?
That’s a good question man, I feel music got into me I’ve always been musically inclined since I was a kid, since I can remember to cause my first memories were like me trying to dance like MJ after I saw him on tv, I think I was a thriller. Trailer and listening to get rich or die trying by 50 cent that’s one of my favourite tapes or albums of all time. So my music influences growing up I guess it will be more from Eminem, old school hip hop of course, and a lot of like reggae from my dad's side and gospel from my mom’s side.
What kind of experience have you had in the music industry?
Yeah, I had a lot of yeah I’ve been like making music for the past ten years so I’ve had a couple of music industry experiences you could say. I’ve recorded songs outside you know like recorded songs like outsider or oslo, I had songs on the radio and of course, I have a couple of shows in some places I don’t know if you guys heard about Rockefeller but that’s like one of the big places in Oslo.
What is your favourite project so far?
My favourite project is definitely the planet series cause it is something to push me and get me motivated me help me be creative cause I always have to find a good angle, for those who don’t know the planet series is basically… I’m releasing an album about a planet every year and then the past two years so released Venus and mar so this year I’m releasing Jupiter.
What gave you the idea for this project?
I’ve always also been interested with stars and planets just like space in general and cosmology and astronomy Cos I feel like when I look at the stars I feel a sense of awe and feel there is something out there definitely so when I wanted to start making music the only question was how can I combine those two things so I decided to make a tape about the planets. Every album is gonna have like a different tone a different vibe a different atmosphere to it different feeling so it's perfect for me.
What sports do you enjoy watching?
I love watching football my favourite team is juventas I’m from Italy so you know I gotta support Italian teams but in England or the Premier League like Manchester United just coz of Ronaldo and Pogba are my favourite players and a little bit Neymar.
What is the biggest highlights or achievement in your career?
I’ll definitely say performing at John D Rockefeller was like really really lit and nice, another was where one of my songs got played in the basketball game where the Celtic’s were playing and I found out like a little bit later but rectangle go played in a basketball official NBA game and yeah that was crazy man, that’s when I knew like oh **** this is this is real and I gotta keep going.
Who do you look up to the most?
Alongside anybody Lil Wayne or Eminem one of those two cause those two are my favourites you know those are my goat's other people look up to and then I mean dead or alive of course I’m gonna take MJ there’s a lot of like people to choose from.
Who is my inspiration?
Life you know. People trying to be a better version of themselves. So my inspiration is Cristiano Ronaldo, another big inspiration Floyd Mayweather and another one is I’ll say I know in the midst of the controversies it would be funny but I’ll say Will Smith he’s been like a really good role model and I don’t think this slap will define him but yeah it is what it is.
What are your favourite venues to perform in?
The closer venues where I can have a little bit more intimate show don’t get me wrong I would love to perform in front of 50,100 thousand people, and that is probably gonna happen but so far, the best shows or my favourite ones are the intimate ones cause I can see people face to face than you know get a look connection
What is the idea behind your latest release?
Yeah, the idea of luv killer, my director and I were brainstorming and we decided to make like an anime video cause I’m a big anime fan so we decided to make like a anime-related type of video and luv killer is like about you know breakup song definitely but is also about like being accountable for the mistakes you did or the part of your part of the equation in the relationship so yeah I thought like Obito will be a perfect character.
Any advice to upcoming musicians?
Keep grinding, don’t forget to network but keep grinding and focus on the music because at the end of the day the music has to be there as it’s the music industry and don’t forget the other part of the game the business end and the industry.
