Interview with music artist known as Leekthough
Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers what made you want to become a musician?
My name is Malik Harris. But I go by the stage name of Leekthough. So what made me want to start making music to be honest I wanted to try something that was hard. Then I just ended up really enjoying it because it’s always something new to learn
Q: Who has been your most influential teacher or mentor?
My mentor and friend would have to be would have to be LazerBeak he is really guiding me through the industry.
Q: What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?
I can really appreciate all genres of music. I just enjoy music as a whole
Q: What would you say is your greatest weakness as an artist?
I would have to say I wear too many hats from being an artist, composer, and a audio engineer as well as the person who markets all of my Music. I definitely need to delegate one of these days.
Q: In terms of the overall composition, what is your favorite song and why?
I really don’t have one I enjoy all my music for different reasons it just depends on the day.
Q: What kind of music artist would you classify yourself as?
I would classify myself as a very diverse artist that is not afraid of do different things.
Q: Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry?
Lil Wayne and Micheal Jackson for sure and Mike Will Made It.
Q: Would you agree that it is very important to learn, study and understand old music and music history?
Yes, The reason is you really need to know what was popular back then so you know what does work and what doesn’t.
Q: Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
Yes, I have a lot of shows coming to my favorite performances were Ac3 and performing at the Armory in Minnesota. As for shows I didn’t like I liked all my shows.
Q: What’s next for you?
I got a lot of new stuff coming, but right now I’m focused on my new album LUNA
Q: How did you come up with the idea for your Music video?
Well, I just like storylines so I just want to see different concepts as well as other barriers being broken.
Q: Do you have any advice for young music makers like yourself?
Yes, never give up and really learn the business side of music it will help a lot
