FALLING FOR Jamz — INTERVIEW WITH RISING STAR AS HE RELEASED SINGLE ‘ Like Water’
Q: It is nice to finally have this interview with you. How are you?
I am very well thank you.
Q: Brilliant! Let’s get straight to it so how long have you been making music?
I’ve been doing music since I was about 10 years old. But I didn’t really take it seriously until I was about 16 when I wrote my first song about depression called Take a Step Back.
Q: Wow, that was a heavy subject to write about at such a young age. What made you approach such a subject?
Well to be honest with you, being the kid I was, I was very extraverted in the things I would wear and do. Bright colours was always a fun place for me to explore. As a kid I would find it hard to fit in sometimes, so writing about a darker subject matter, as I got older was quite easy to be honest.
Q: Ok. So have you found your place now?
Oh yes definitely, music is my place. Every time I write lyrics and make music it opens up a new world for me.
Q: Describe your sound?
I would say it’s a mixture of old school soulfulness with a modern day sound.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being a musician and what do you hate the most?
I enjoy writing my own music and performing it for my fans. Being an Independent Artist can be quite difficult as I’m doing everything myself, such as the promotion and booking gigs. I would rather just focus on the creative side of things and let someone else handle all of that.
Q: So are you looking for a manager at the moment?
Yeah for sure.
Q: Your new song Like Water, can you tell me a little about it and your inspiration behind the track?
To me, “Like Water” is quite an earthy song. As we know, water gives life and in the lyrics “your love is like water, it keeps on overflowing”, it is a testament to the person I am singing about, that what they are doing for me is overflowing with greatness.
Q: How long does it take you to make a track?
To be honest, it all depends. I can her a beat and write free-style to it within minutes. For example, with“Like Water”, I wrote the lyrics, produced the vocals and mixed and mastered the track in about two weeks.
Q: Fantastic stuff! So you’re hands-on then?
I am definitely hands on, yes.
Q: So what’s the dream? where do you want to be in the next five years?
The dream is to continue to grow as a musician and to have world wide recognition and for me and my family to be able to live off of my music.
