DJ & ARTIST SOFIA VALENTINI CELEBRATES the 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF MEAN GIRLS IN “YOU CAN’T SIT WITH US”

San Francisco, California: Paramount Pictures released their iconic movie “Mean Girls” 15 years ago, on April 30th 2004. Directed by Mark Water and starring many up and coming actors. It became an immediate cult, especially among the young generation. Written by Tina Fey, the movie is about a teenage girl Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan), who moved with her family to suburbs of Illinois.
The movie “Mean Girls” set many new trends and its signature phrases are being used by all generations even nowadays. Probably most iconic phrase is “You Can’t Sit With Us,” which you can translate as “You ain’t cool enough to hang out with us.”
DJ, singer and a producer Sofia Valentini a.k.a Beatsnbeauty, who titled her song as an ode to “Mean Girls” using exactly this phrase, says: “The first time I watched this movie was when I was in my early teens. I immediately fell in love with the movie! It was not just a movie that you watch once and forget. It is actually sad to say this, but it portrayed the reality of what was happening in most high schools even in real life including myself. Not only in the USA, but also all over Europe including the Czech Republic, where I grew up. When you are young, you are still trying to figure out your place in this world and you do so through exploring different kinds of personalities and seeing what you feel comfortable with and what not. What I liked about this movie the most was, that it showed me the positives and negatives of both — being the “good girl” and being the “cold cool queen.” It helped me realize my own priorities. Most other similar topic movies only give you one of that, which if you don’t wanna be exactly like that, makes your young brain even more confused. That is also why I think the movie became so hugely successful. It helps you on your way of finding yourself in an entertaining way, often even without you realizing it.
I watched this movie again about a few months ago and when finding out about the movies soon to coming 15th anniversaries, I decided to write a song titled “You Can’t Sit With Us” entirely based on movies’ message and its embellished attitude to bring all its fans back together. The song was made in collaboration with a recently launched high-end fashion company Jos&sof. It is their official 2019 anthem and portrays the vibes of their collections and styles. From golden toilets to the penthouse in Moon colony, the song brings to front the eliteness in everyone including fashions. It makes them the first ever fashion brand to officially have their own song released on all music platforms. ”
