Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers and how you first got into this field of work –and who were some of your influences growing up?

I’m the street motivator known as Pyrex Plat and I’m from Yonkers, NY. I fell in love with music in 1995-‘96, but, I didn’t see myself in the music business until I heard Cash Money.

Aside from Cash Money, some of my musical influences growing up were E-40, Master P, Biggie, 2-Pac, DMX and the L.O.X.

Q: What kind of training have you had, if any?

I started writing short poems, which I later turned into amateur rap songs. I eventually started rapping over Cash Money instrumentals while recording myself on a karaoke machine.

I’ve been writing and recording on and off since 2002 if you consider that training.

Q: What has been your favourite project to work on so far?

The double release of my singles “Silver Lining” and “Man Down and then filming videos for those songs.

Q: How did you get the a record deal? If independent, do you want a record deal?

I’m currently an independent artist and open to working with a label, but at the moment I’m taking a grass-roots approach to connecting with my fans.

I enjoy watching basketball, because my grandfather introduced me to it at a young age. I fell in love with the teamwork and it was something I liked playing in middle school and on community teams.

One of my biggest achievements was traveling to Los Angeles to shoot the video for my single “Silver Lining” and sharing the finished product with my fans.

Q: If you had a chance to work alongside anybody who would that be?

I would love the opportunity to work with Jorja Smith and Kevin Gates. I feel the truth in Jorja Smith’s voice and anyone from the hood hear the truth. I relate to Kevin Gates because I feel like we come from the same place. Real recognize real.
