An Interview with R & B Singer Natalie Nichole
Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers and how you first got into this field of the music business — and who were some of your influences growing up?
ANSWER:
My name is Natalie Nichole I’m an R&B singer, songwriter & all-around entertainer. I first got into the field of the music business when I was 5yrs old if you count how long I’ve been singing, performing, creating records, & actively pursuing it. If you want to take all that footwork out of the equation through & just add up the years where I’ve been on the “Industry Radar” it’s only been 3 years. I’ve sung background vocals for Rita Wilson, wrote for Empire the TV show, have acted & worked amongst some “big dogs” if you will. Even prior to that I worked with majors as well. What people don’t realize is it takes well over 10,000 hours to pursue something & or create a career especially if you want longevity. Overall, I’ve been doing this all my life & only in my 20s, thankfully.
Q: What kind of training have you had, if any?
ANSWER:
I did have a little training growing up but it was more so to be able to channel all of the abilities I had. I could play piano, flute, guitar, drums, dance & sing. We didn’t have a ton of money so I wasn’t in many lessons. I was heavily involved in free organizations for the community though that allowed all those things so I was always actively using my gifts & training per-say. Now, if I train it’s just to keep healthy vocals & to stay brushed up on the instruments I can play.
Q: What has been your favorite project to work on so far?
ANSWER:
I don’t have favorite projects that I work on. All my work is an extension of me & although, I like certain parts of me better than others I can’t say it’s the same for the things I create. Whatever I’m creating at the moment is my favorite until I’m onto the next thing & even then my creations are like my children I don’t love any one of them more than the other.
Q: What sports do you enjoy watching?
I’m not really a sports watcher. If I do I watch the Saint’s just to support my longtime friend Marcus Davenport. I much rather play than watch.
Q : What has been one of the biggest highlights/achievements of your career?
ANSWER
I guess I’m waiting on the biggest highlights/achievements in my career. I think moving in a forward motion in itself is always a highlight & an achievement. As long as I’m not stopping or losing momentum, I’m happy. As far as some huge accolade that the entire universe knows about though, I’m waiting for that. The future looks big & bright so whatever highlights & achievements transpire throughout my journey I look forward to experiencing it all.
Q: If you had a chance to work alongside anybody who would that be?
ANSWER
If I had the chance to work alongside anybody it would be Jermaine Dupri, Brian Michael Cox, JLo, Mariah Carey, Brian Mcknight, Kehlani, Hayley Kiyoko, Big Sean, JCole, Rae Sremmurd, Billie Eilish, Drake, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Justin Beiber the list could go on forever. I think all these people are extremely talented & just to create & vibe with them would be a true moment.
Q: What projects do you have coming up?
ANSWER
I’m working on several projects right now all at the same time but the one that’s first up is my EP that’ll drop in 2020. I’ll be releasing 7 songs early 2020 & they are all very raw, real, honest & beautiful. I’m actually really excited for that project & all that will follow it as well. Be on the lookout for it I named it “2020”.
Q: Who is your inspiration?
ANSWER
I feel like I have many inspirations. As far as entertainers go my inspirations are Mariah Carey, JLo & others. As far as everyday people go my Mother, supporters & the people closest to me are a huge inspiration in my life. Ultimately, my mega inspiration is God, he gave me all my gifts & I just want to use them all for his glory. Although, I’m far from perfect he still finds use for me & works through me & I’m grateful for that.
Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
ANSWER
The most interesting thing I’ve read or seen this week was how big Angelina Jolie’s kids have gotten. Lol. I think I’m surprised about it because they haven’t been in the spotlight so It’s wild to see how much they’ve grown. I’m sure there’s many other things I’ve seen or read that are far more important but that’s literally the first thing that popped into my mind after that question.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for your Music video Go Off?
Answer
“Go Off” music video to me was a simple video concept. I purposely wanted it to be like a typical rap that you’d probably see in the 80s or 90s but obviously with todays style. I don’t normally create rap songs consistently like I do R&B so to me it was just for fun. The song was making a pretty bold statement lyrically so I felt I didn’t need to put too much thought into it.
Q: Do you have any advice for young music makers like yourself?
Answer
My advice for young music makers like myself would be to be innovative, find someone who believes in you, invest in yourself, take chances, do what you can & NEVER GIVE UP. This industry isn’t easy & if you’re just in it for the glitz, good luck to ya!
Q: Who were the biggest inspirations for your career?
Answer
My biggest inspirations for my career? That’s an interesting question; it depends on how you mean exactly. I don’t feel like anyone is telling me to pursue this career so as far as being inspired by anything or anyone to do this I’m self-motivated & self-inspired. As far as being influenced by someone else’s career & aspiring to have something similar I’m definitely inspired by JLo’s blueprint of her journey. If I could have a build-up like Jennifer Lopez I’d feel I had an amazing influence on the masses with class & dignity.
