An Interview with music singer “Ina of KingQueen”

Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers and how you first got into this field of work –and who were some of your influences growing up?

My influences growing up was Joan Jett, Michael Jackson and Madonna. Writing music was something that started very early without me knowing I was even doing it. I thought they were diary entries with melodies attached. Once I realized I wanted to perform I turned the songs in to real music.

Q: What kind of training have you had, if any?

I played piano as a kid then I went to college in London and studied at LCCM. I really enjoy school so I continued at Musicians Institute in Hollywood.

Q: What has been your favourite project to work on so far?

I think each project becomes a favorite in the moment and once you release the music it’s like watching your babies grow up and fly free. And you move on to the next set of a creative flow.

Q: How did you get the gig?

To me, since I’m persistent and also realistic. I email as many people as possible. I have this calculation. If I email 10, about 4 will get back to me and 1 will absolutely work out. If I get 2 then that’s a bonus.

Q: What sports do you enjoy watching?

Soccer all the way! But I love sports in general! So any competitive sport at a good level is entertaining to me.

Q: What has been one of the biggest highlights/achievements of your career?

None, they are all equally important. I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities and with each opportunity I want to work even harder. I think the achievement is to wake up happy every day and keep pushing boundaries through music.

Q: If you had a chance to work alongside anybody who would that be?

Joan Jett for SURE!

Q: What projects do you have coming up?

Releasing a couple of singles with my band KingQueen this year. Also a music video for our song “Roller Coaster”. I’m also releasing a soccer anthem for a soccer team in Sweden in June. That will be released through Ina of KingQueen. Solo.

Q: Who is your inspiration?

Small towns. Life. The world. You.

Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?

Impossible to answer. I’m easily impressed by a lot. Nature, airplanes, animals, music, people… I just take it all in.

Q: What are your favorite venues to perform in?

My favorite was seriously House Of Blues on sunset strip in Los Angeles. Why? Staff was always professional and so kind! The sound on the stage and out to the audience was perfect and I loved the stage and the space I had. My fav stage so far.
