An Interview with music artist Sarah West
Q: What is your earliest memory of music and when did you know that you wanted to make it a career?
Answer
My earliest memory is probably listening to my dad writing songs.
Since I was a little baby he would always write songs in front of me, or just have me in the room while he was working on his music.
When I was around 6 I started writing my own songs with him and by myself and I think it became my dream early on to make music for the rest of my life!
Q: What inspires you the most?
Answer
I’m really inspired by people and their stories. Either people who have had a dream and taken the chance or any time someone reaches out and tells me how my music has affected them in their life, sharing their story with me — it’s a huge inspiration for me to keep doing what I’m doing!
Q: Which artist or band dead or alive would you most like to collaborate with?
Answer
I’d love to work with John Legend because he was the first soulful artist I ever listened to, I wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music growing up!
Love Ed Sheeran’s writing & would love to work with him too!
Q: If you had to pick one song of yours you are most proud of which song would that be?
Answer
Probably my song Selfish.
Don’t get me wrong, I love all my songs equally haha, but that one will always take me back the feeling I had when I wrote it. It came from such a real, heartbroken place, and it’s one of those songs where I finished it and went “wait did I just write that?!”
Q: When people hear the name Sarah West what do you want them to think?
Answer
Authentic. I would love for people to feel like they can relate to me and my music/story.
Q: Since moving from Denmark what do you enjoy most about America?
Answer
I love the people here, the sense of how anything is possible & how diverse it is! & grilled cheese.
Q: Do you have any upcoming releases and if so can you tell us a bit about them?
Answer
yes!! I have so much music I’m so excited to share with the world!
I’ve got a charity song coming out very soon called “ I Am”.
I’m an ambassador for Girltalk in Denmark (an organization that helps teenage girls) and it’s a song that speaks about self-worth & self-love.
I also have a danish song coming out called “Det var dig” followed by “Once Chance” which will be the first single of my project “The Sarah West Issue”
