An Interview with Music artist RMG
Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers and how you first got into this field of work –and who were some of your influences growing up?
My name is Raquel but I like to go by RMG. I used to write music as a kid. The biggest music influences growing up was probably drake and Lil Wayne. I love how he can make any song and turn it into a hit I been doing music since I was 15.
My first song was game over for you I was in high school at the time. Fun fact Game over for you was written about my friends Norma’s ex. I just started writing and I heard a beat and the magic came out! I just hated seeing my friends hurt but it was a highschool phase and we laugh about it now
Q: What kind of training have you had, if any?
I am self-taught. I write how I feel. Emotions play a huge role in the content I create.
Q: What has been your favourite project to work on so far?
My favorite project was My song “ TOXIC” But also I think this song I took things to a whole new level. I really wanted to grow as a music artist and if you compare My first song to this one I can see the growth.
Q: How did this song happen?
This song happened around November I was hurt I was in a dark place. I was pissed so many emotions running through my mind and I found music is a healing place for me. Especially when you release it it’s like a weight being lifted off. I want to encourage self-love I want people to know stop looking for love in others and look for it in themselves. It’s a journey but it’s possible I was quiet about things for 3 months cause it hurt me to the point where I was crying hard on my lunch break and I was mad at myself. This song can be empowering
Q: What sports do you enjoy watching?
I like watching football sometimes. Not a huge sports person to be honest. But I will watch the cardinals!
Q: What has been one of the biggest highlights/achievements of your career?
When my toxic music video hit and I was everywhere and I loved it cause I was on a domestic violence page
Q: If you had a chance to work alongside anybody who would that be?
Selena Gomez for sure. The Weeknd
Q: What projects do you have coming up?
A club banger. This one will be more hype and less emotions
Q: Who is your inspiration?
I think musically it would be The Weeknd. And Selena Gomez the fact that she is vulnerable and open about things. It takes a lot of strength
Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
Has to be about the jlo performance haha they should let her live !!
Q: What are your favorite venues to perform in?
I really want to perform at the AZ hip hop festival. For sure
Q: How did you come up with the idea for your Music video?
My music video will be deep that can probably be filmed next weeks
Q: Do you have any advice for young music makers like yourself?
Honestly just do it. I know it’s easy to care what people think but if God gives you talent embrace it. I know God gave me the talent to create and write songs and I’m using it.
